REBOOT

REBOOT is a lunchtime program specifically aimed at upper primary school students which introduces them to evidence-based wellbeing principles in a fun and engaging way.

Scientists know the sorts of things that impact on someone's wellbeing*. These include, but are not limited to the following:

Self-esteem

Perceived Control

Optimism/Hope

Achieving in life

Personal Relationships.

REBOOT helps primary school students understand these within the context of a voluntary lunchtime program that is delivered through fun games, talks and activities.

According to the Australian Unity Wellbeing Report “Research from around the world, including extensive research conducted by Deakin University as part of the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index, shows that wellbeing matters a lot—for individuals, communities and the nation.” (pg. 15 ... download the report using the blue button below). In response, REBOOT is designed to assist schools to educate students around wellbeing principles that support their resilience.

Building relationships with children is a key focus of the REBOOT program.

“Relationships provide the emotional scaffolding to our lives” (pg. 24,) and REBOOT can become a part of that structure for both children and schools. There’s nothing like seeing a child’s face light up when they are welcomed by name and knowing that there are other significant adults who care.

Not only do the children benefit, but the volunteers do too! “We also learnt that people who have a greater connection with their community also tend to have higher wellbeing” (pg.35)
